Nils was born in a small ski town, Stowe, Vermont, where a passion for exploring the outdoors led him to snowboarding. While his mom worked at the local ski resort, Nils spent his daycare time out on the mountain learning how to board. At the age of 14, after becoming successful as a minor in all types of competitions, Nils enrolled at the Winter Sports School in Park City, Utah. After graduating from school, Nils went pro with Salomon and started to develop his professional career on the board.
While pursuing the deep days, he also managed to crank out a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Utah. After lots of time honing his craft, Nils scored a major victory by taking home the championship in the Freeride World Tour in 2020. Nils continues to find success at the highest levels of his sport while maintaining a balance in his day-to-day life. For Nils, it’s all about perspective.
