Ingredients
- 4 honey crisp apples
- 4 packets Kodiak Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 4 tablespoons softened butter
- 1-1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- whipped cream
Directions
- Get a steady fire going and let it burn down until you have a nice bed of warm coals for cooking.
- In a bowl, combine Kodiak oatmeal, brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
- Carefully hollow out the apples using a spoon. Take your time and be sure not to go all the way through the bottom—this helps keep the juices inside during cooking.
- Spoon the prepared filling into each apple. Wrap each one tightly in parchment paper and then in foil, leaving a small opening at the top for venting.
- Using tongs, place the wrapped apples in the bed of hot coals. Cook for about 30 minutes, rotating occasionally for even cooking.
- Use tongs to carefully remove the apples from the fire. Let them cool for 5–10 minutes. Serve warm with a dollop of whipped cream.
