Ingredients

  • 1-3/4 cups warm water, divided
  • 3 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 3 cups Kodiak Buttermilk & Honey Frontier Cakes Flapjack & Waffle Mix
  • 1-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1-1/2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions

  1. Place 1/4 cup of the warm water, 1 teaspoon of the honey, and the yeast in a small bowl. Stir to combine and let sit for 5 minutes until the heat becomes bubbly.
  2. While the yeast mixture is activating, stir together the buttermilk honey mix, all-purpose flour, and salt together in the bowl of a stand mixer. Pour in the foamy yeast mixture, remaining 1 1/2 cups water, remaining 3 tablespoons honey, and melted butter. Mix together with a dough hook, on slow speed, until a sticky dough comes together. Continue to knead on medium speed for 5 minutes. Dough should be slightly sticky and not at all dry…add more water if needed.
  3. Place dough in an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Let rise in a warm place for one hour, or until doubled in size.
  4. Grease a standard-sized loaf pan.
  5. When the dough has doubled in size, turn out onto a lightly oiled surface. Pull into a long log shape and fold each end into the middle. Flip loaf shape over and place seam-side down in the greased loaf pan.
  6. Cover lightly with plastic wrap and let dough rise again for another hour, or until dough has risen about 1 inch over the top of the pan.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350° F. When the dough has risen to the correct height, remove plastic wrap and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  8. Remove from oven and let cool 5 minutes. Brush melted butter over the top of the loaf. Let cool completely.
  9. Remove from pan and slice with a serrated knife. Store in an airtight container.
