Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup whole milk
  • 8 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 2-1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 2-1/2 cups Kodiak Buttermilk Power Cakes Flapjack & Waffle Mix
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Place the Kodiak mix, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl fitted to a stand mixer and set aside.
  2. Place the milk and 3 tablespoons of the butter in a small saucepan and heat just until the butter starts to melt. Remove from heat, stirring occasionally until butter melts fully and let cool until warm (no longer hot to the touch). Add the yeast and whisk until dissolved.
  3. Pour the milk mixture into the bowl of dry ingredients and stir to combine. Beat with whisk attachment for 5 minutes, to form a smooth dough.
  4. Cover and let rest for 10 minutes while you make the filling.
  5. Place 3 tablespoons of softened butter, the brown sugar, and the cinnamon in a small bowl. Stir until a smooth mixture forms. Set aside.
  6. Roll the rested dough out into a 14”x8” rectangle.
  7. Spread the filling evenly over the dough. Roll the dough into a 14” long log. Use floss or a sharp knife to cut the log into 10 cinnamon rolls.
  8. Place the cinnamon rolls in a greased 8-9” skillet. Cover and let rise until doubled in size.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375° F.
  10. Bake the rolls for 23-25 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  11. While the rolls are cooking, make the icing by placing the last 2 tablespoons of butter in a mixing bowl along with the cream cheese, vanilla, and powdered sugar. Beat until a smooth icing is formed.
  12. Spread the icing over the top of the cinnamon rolls once cooled. Store in an airtight container.
