Made using Kodiak Buttermilk Power Cakes and a few other household ingredients, these hamburger buns are hearty and satisfying, each boasting a whopping 18 grams of protein. You can count on the fuel you need for whatever after-dinner adventures await (aka super competitive yard games).

Ingredients

  • 4-1/2 cups Kodiak Buttermilk Power Cakes Flapjack & Waffle Mix
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1-1/4 cup water, warm
  • 2 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 egg, beaten

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine Kodiak mix, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. Knead in the egg, butter, and water until smooth.
  3. Let rest for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  4. Divide the dough into 8 even pieces. Shape each into smooth rounds and place on a sheet pan. Cover and let rest for an additional 45 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 400° F.
  6. Brush the top of each bun with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  7. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until golden.
