Ingredients

  • 1 large apple
  • 4 tablespoons salted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 cup Kodiak Cinnamon Oat Power Cakes Flapjack & Waffle Mix
  • 3/4 cup whole milk (or water)*
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 egg (optional)

*You may need to add more mix or less water or milk for thicker waffles.

Directions

  1. Peel and core the Apple. Cut into half-inch cubes.
  2. Melt the butter in a heated skillet. Add cubed apples and sauté for 3-4 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the brown sugar to the skillet with the apples and stir in until dissolved. Simmer for two minutes, until thickened.
  4. Add water and simmer for another 30 seconds.
  5. Remove from heat.
  6. Preheat and grease a waffle iron.
  7. Whisk together Kodiak mix, milk, oil, and optional egg in a mixing bowl until just combined—careful not to over mix. Let rest for a few minutes while the waffle iron heats up.
  8. Spoon about 1/3 cup of batter into each waffle grate and cook until golden brown, about 1-1/2 minutes. Repeat until all waffle batter has been cooked.
  9. Stack waffles and serve warm with the brown sugar apple mixture. Enjoy!
