Buttermilk biscuits are as much a symbol of the pioneers of the west as mountain ranges, buffalo, and red handkerchiefs. They're a rustic must for any breakfast, best served with butter, jam, or a heaping helping of sausage gravy. Give your family a taste of pioneer tradition by making a homemade batch of the warm, fluffy, delicious biscuits.
Ingredients
- 2 cups Kodiak Cakes Buttermilk Power Cakes
- 3 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
- 1 egg
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
Directions
- Preheat oven to 425°F
- In a large bowl, stir Kodiak Cakes Buttermilk Power Cakes mix, sugar, and baking powder together
- Cut the cold butter into cubes and work into the flour by hand until crumbly
- Stir in egg and milk until a dough forms
- Empty the dough onto a floured surface and roll 1/2" thick
- Use a biscuit cutter or drinking glass to cut biscuits from the rolled dough. Place cut biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden
- Remove from the oven and brush with melted butter
